In J.D. Power and Associates Customer Satisfaction Study
DIRECTV Ranks Highest in Southern, Western and Eastern U.S. Regions; Marks the
Fourth Time Satellite Leader has Received J.D. Power and Associates Customer
Satisfaction Award
EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Aug. 15, 2007 - DIRECTV has been ranked "Highest in Customer
Satisfaction Among Satellite/Cable TV Subscribers" in the Southern, Western and
Eastern regions of the United States, according to the J.D. Power and Associates
2007 Residential Cable/Satellite TV Customer Satisfaction StudySM. The three
regions where DIRECTV ranked highest encompass 43 of the 48 contiguous states.
DIRECTV has received the highest ranking three previous times in J.D. Power and
Associates' national customer satisfaction studies, and earlier this year
received the highest score for customer satisfaction among satellite and cable
TV companies rated by the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) for the
seventh consecutive year. DIRECTV offers support for customers through a variety
of vehicles, including 1-800-DIRECTV, DIRECTV.com and the Interactive Customer
Support Channel on channel 114.
J.D. Power and Associates recognizes the highest-ranked companies in each of the
four regions in the United States - East, South, North Central and West - rather
than naming a single company as the #1 Cable/Satellite provider in the nation.
"DIRECTV's highest ranking by J.D. Power and Associates has expanded to three
U.S. regions this year and clearly reflects the performance and reliability of
our service, as well as the hard work and dedication of all DIRECTV employees
and our business partners to improve the customer experience," said John Suranyi,
DIRECTV's president of Sales and Service. "As our business continues to grow and
significantly more of our customers adopt advanced services like HD and DVRs,
the need for superior customer satisfaction becomes even more critical. It is
important that our customers not only have the best television viewing
experience available, but also the best customer service experience as well and
we are committed to improving all aspects of our business to achieve this goal."
As demand increases for advanced services, DIRECTV is planning to launch up to
100 national HD channels by the end of 2007 and offer local HD channels in up to
75 markets. DIRECTV is also continuing to expand its innovative interactive
sports programming lineup, and its original programming platform with exclusive
programs such as the Championship Gaming Series, the world's first global
professional gaming league, and Project MyWorld, the reality series that brings
the MySpace experience to life.
This year's J.D. Power and Associates Customer Satisfaction Study is based on
responses from 17,033 satellite TV and cable households nationwide. J.D. Power
and Associates is a global marketing information services firm operating in key
business sectors including market research, forecasting, consulting, training
and customer satisfaction.
